Payments, Refunds & Cancellation
What you pay, what you get, and when you get your money back.
1. Prices
Every price on the platform is in South African Rand and is the full amount you will be charged — there are no fees added at checkout. The operator is not currently a registered VAT vendor, so no VAT is charged and no tax invoice is issued. Receipts are available from your wallet history.
2. How money moves
- You top up your wallet using a card or bank transfer through our payment gateway.
- You spend the wallet balance on subscriptions, one-off post unlocks and tips. The balance moves instantly and is recorded in a ledger you can inspect.
- Creators accumulate earnings in their own wallet, and request a payout to a bank account we have verified.
Before you confirm any charge you are shown exactly what you are buying, from whom and at what price, and you can change or abandon it — the review-and-correct step required by section 43(2) of the ECT Act. If you were never given that opportunity, section 43(3) entitles you to cancel the transaction within 14 days and be refunded.
A wallet balance is prepaid credit, not a deposit. It earns no interest and is not protected by any deposit-insurance scheme.
3. All sales are final
Once a payment is made it is made. We do not give refunds, and we do not cancel a period you have paid for. What you buy is a defined period of access to a specific creator, and it is delivered the moment you pay.
That applies to:
- Subscriptions — you have bought a period of access. Changing your mind partway through it does not end it or return anything.
- Pay-per-post unlocks — the content is yours to see the instant you pay.
- Tips — a voluntary gift, not a purchase. Once sent it belongs to the creator.
Nothing renews behind your back. A subscription runs for the period you paid for and then stops, unless you have switched auto-renew on yourself — see section 5.
4. The one exception the law does not let us exclude
Section 44 of the ECT Act gives a consumer seven days to cancel an electronic transaction, and section 42(3) makes any term that tries to exclude that right void. We will not print a term we know a court would strike out, so here is exactly where it applies and where it does not.
It applies to an untouched wallet top-up. If you have added money to your wallet and not spent any of it, you may ask for it back within seven days and we will return it to the method you paid with.
It does not apply to content you have already been given access to. Section 42(2) of the same Act carves out digital content once the consumer has accessed it — a subscription you have viewed, or a post you have unlocked, cannot be un-seen, and the cooling-off right falls away for it. This is the ordinary position for digital goods, not something we have invented.
5. Renewals are opt-in, and only from your wallet
A subscription does not renew by default. If you want it to continue, you switch on auto-renew in My subscriptions, and then:
- The renewal is taken from your wallet balance. There is no card on file and no debit order, so we cannot charge you money you have not already put aside.
- If your balance will not cover it, the subscription simply ends. No part-charge, no negative balance, no debt, and no attempt to collect.
- You can switch auto-renew off at any moment. That is not a cancellation and returns nothing — it stops the next purchase. The period you already paid for runs to its end.
- We tell you a few days before a period ends, whether or not auto-renew is on.
6. Withdrawing an unused wallet balance
You may ask for money still sitting unspent in your wallet to be returned, at any time — not only in the first seven days. We return it to the payment method it came from where possible, or to a bank account in your own name.
We may require identity verification first, and we may decline where the request is inconsistent with anti-money-laundering obligations under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 — if we decline, we tell you why unless the law forbids it. Wallet balances do not expire and are not forfeited for inactivity.
This covers money you have not spent. Money already spent on a subscription, unlock or tip has bought something and is not returnable.
7. Where something has actually gone wrong
“All sales are final” is about changing your mind. It is not a shield against our own errors, and the Consumer Protection Act would not let it be. Tell us and we will put it right if:
- You were charged twice for the same thing, or charged an amount you never agreed to.
- A technical fault on our side took money without delivering the access it was for.
- Your account was used without your authority — see section 10.
Contact us through Complaints & Disputes or at [Contact email — not yet published by this deployment]. We respond within 7 business days.
8. What creators are charged
We take a commission on money that moves through the platform. It is charged to the creator, deducted from the price they set. It is never added to what a buyer pays: the price on the page is the price payable, which is what section 23 of the Consumer Protection Act and section 43(1)(l) of the ECT Act both require.
- Subscriptions
- 20% of the subscription price
- Pay-per-post unlocks
- 20% of the unlock price
- Tips
- 10% of the tip
- Wallet top-ups
- Nothing. Funding a wallet is you moving your own money in; we earn when it is spent, not twice.
- Payments arranged off-platform
- Nothing. If you and a creator settle directly, we are not part of it and take no share.
A creator's wallet is credited the net amount at the moment a payment settles, and the deduction is itemised on the earnings screen — there is no separate invoice and nothing is claimed back later. We will give at least 30 days' notice in the app before any increase in these rates, and an increase never applies retrospectively to money already earned.
9. Creator payouts
- Payouts require verified identity and a bank account in the creator's own name. We do not pay third parties.
- The requested amount is held at the moment of the request, so it cannot be spent twice, and released back to the wallet if the payout is rejected or cancelled.
- Creators are independent — you are responsible for your own income tax, and for registering for VAT if your own turnover requires it. We are not your employer.
10. Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank rather than with us, the gateway reverses it and we may suspend the account while the dispute runs. Please contact us first — it is faster, and a chargeback on content that was delivered as described may be treated as a breach of these terms.
11. Fraud
If a payment was made from your card or account without your authority, tell us and tell your bank immediately. We will reverse what we can, freeze the funds we still hold, and cooperate with the investigation.
